Privacy Policy
Effective date: 18 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Med Reminder (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Med Reminder mobile app and website (together, the “Service”). Med Reminder helps you remember to take your medicines. By using the Service, you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
We collect only what the Service needs to work:
- Account information: your email address and a securely hashed password, or, if you use “Sign in with Google”, your name, email address, and Google account identifier.
- Health & medication information you enter: medicine names, dosages, schedules, inventory counts, and your record of doses taken, skipped, or missed. This is sensitive information and we treat it accordingly.
- Photos: if you use the prescription scanner or add a medicine photo, the image you capture is uploaded to our servers so the medicine can be saved to your account.
- Device & technical information: a push-notification token (to deliver reminders and alerts), your device platform, and basic server logs (such as IP address and request times) used for security and reliability.
We do not collect your contacts, precise location, browsing history, or advertising identifiers, and we do not use the Service to serve ads.
2. How we use your information
- To schedule and deliver medication reminders and refill/low-stock alerts.
- To store your medicines, schedules, and adherence history so they sync across sessions.
- To read prescription labels on-device and pre-fill medicine details you can review.
- To create your account, verify your email, and let you reset your password.
- To show adherence insights (streaks, trends, calendar view) back to you.
- To keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
3. How your information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described here:
- Family sharing (only if you choose it): if you invite a family member using a one-time code, they can see your overall adherence (for example, whether doses were taken on time). They do not see your medicine names or dosages. You can revoke access at any time.
- Service providers: we use Google Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver push notifications, and Google Sign-In if you choose to sign in with Google. These providers process only the data needed for those functions, under their own terms.
- Email delivery: we send transactional emails (verification codes, password resets) via an email provider.
- Legal reasons: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the Service.
4. App permissions
The app requests these permissions for the stated purpose only:
- Notifications, exact alarms, and full-screen alerts: to show medicine reminders at the right time, even when the app is closed.
- Camera: to scan a prescription label or take a medicine photo (only when you initiate it).
- Run at startup: to reschedule your reminders after the device restarts.
5. Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile → Settings), which permanently removes your account and associated medication data from our systems. You may also request deletion by emailing us at privacy@medreminder.in.
6. Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your information and limit access to it.
7. Children's privacy
The Service is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Medical disclaimer
Med Reminder is a reminder tool and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always follow the guidance of your doctor or pharmacist.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the effective date above. Significant changes will be communicated within the app where appropriate.
10. Contact us
If you have questions about this policy or your data, contact us at privacy@medreminder.in.
